Today could have gone either way. Personally good for me but not so good for my wife so many of you know how that goes. Maybe I could have done more to help? I did come to one conclusion today. I am really annoyed by people at the gym who color coordinate their workout gear!

Live from MUSC Children's Hospital...its Friday Night!
But, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...Charlie is falling asleep next to me
Breakfast - Hardees chicken biscuit
Lunch - The Oriental Cuisine sweet n' sour chicken
Good Day
Ok, this is single handedly the worst day of nutrition that I have subjected myself to in 2010. Comfort food! Notice though how I'm not worried about weight after a day of eating like this because I've sped my BMR up so fast. I am upset about eating unhealthy though. I really don't like putting bad things in my body, but if regular exercise and healthy eating is a way of life then a day like today is just fine, if not encouraged at times. Keep your sanity...and taste buds!

Breakfast - scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon
Lunch - Baja Fresh burrito and waffle fries (dont ask)
Dinner - ummmm
Weight - 184.5
Run - Started at MUSC and just kept going - like 4.2ish - 35 min 08 sec
Good Day / Bad Day
6 am check-in at MUSC came early but Charlie was in good spirits. Most likely because he had no idea what was coming. He did great in surgery and his ureters (he has an extra one) on the right side were elongated and re-implanted to stop the urine from refluxing back into the kidney. Its just so hard because he hasn't ate anything since last night and won't be able to until tomorrow morning so he is so hungry and tired and confused so he hasn't napped all day but just whined and whimpered. The MUSC doctors, nurses, staff, etc are great but all of the regulations and blah blah blah. No hospital is a day at the spa so we just make the most of it. It will be over soon. Mommy got to go home and sleep a bit while grammie and I stayed and that's when I got to go run. The run was mostly to burn stress from not being at work today when stuff needs to get done and also from talking about dad's prognosis and cancer journey at 7:30 in the am! That where the bad day comes in. I've come to the conclusion that we just have to keep maintaining his battle until God is ready. Ready for what; that hasn't been revealed yet. Most of my grass sprigs in the backyard are looking good though. Just waiting for them to spread now.

Breakfast - rice chex cereal and toast w/ apple butter
Lunch - Pizza
Dinner - two angus sliders and some tostidos
Weight - 184.5
Off Day from running
Good Day
My dinner was lacking tonight because I was flying solo tonight, which meant I had Charlie for his therapy, his medicine, his bath, his bottle, his change and his nitey nite while also feeding the dogs and getting myself ready for tomorrow. My super dad role tonight was because my wife, Fran, was treated to a early birthday dinner as her dad came down from Greer this afternoon and boy does she deserve time off and a good meal! She is the real superwoman! Especially now that she is bascially a stay at home mom and loving it! They had to go to the UPS warehouse in North Charleston so they just went over to the Old Towne on E. Montague to a little bistro called Cork. I'm anxious for their review. Tommorow we won't eat so well though as the day will be spent at MUSC for Charlie's surgery. This is to repair an extra ureter from his kidney to his bladder that is causing urine reflux. It's nothing too huge but it will be a relief to get him off one of his medicines and not have to worry about possible urinary tract infections that cause bigger problems. For me though, any surgery is scary so please join me in prayer for my little boy tomorrow as well as all of his medical issues.

Breakfast - Pop Tart
Lunch - Firehouse Hero sub
Dinner - PB & J and potato chips
Weight - 186 lbs
Ran around Downtown today since the weather (and scenery) was awesome - 4 milesish - 32 min 30 sec
Good Day
Dad coming home early from Philly because they opted not to do chemo since it has not shrunk the tumors at all would usually be a bad day, but in three weeks they are going in for a surgery where they aim directed radiation at the individual tumors to kill them and that makes me happy. Not to mention that my opinion is that when dealing with an incurable, life-threatening disease, it is always positive when things aren't getting worse. My dad has always been one of those to be like Vanilla Ice and just solve the problem while his dj revolves it, but I'm glad to see him understanding that its going to take treatment and management the rest of his life and most of us are happy with that as long as we get to have him here on earth longer and longer!'

Jenni w/ Molly in the background on the Greenway |
Nasty thunderstorm woke me up at 5 am, I fed Charlie, and then was up and completely awake so took off on a run that just keep going and going. Right down Savannah Hwy then back up the West Ashley Greenway. Nothing better than the smell of salt marsh and yellow jessamine before the sun comes up. Plus, I'm really excited about my wife and I finding a small group at ECBC. All this coupled with opening day of the NFL. Niiiiiiccceeeee.
1) Opening Day of MLB
2) Opening Rounds of March Madness
3) Bowl Season (i know its not one day)
4) The College World Series
5) The day the NBA is over for the year

First off, I know, I ate horribly today but that's ok. Sometimes you get to. That's the point of being balanced. Second, Where were you on this day nine years ago? I was walking into my Psych class at Wofford.
Third, days like today come few and far between. This morning reminded me of when I woke up the mornings of my opening days for baseball season all my life. Just, I wasn't playing anything now, I was going to watch some awesome college football! Go Cocks!!! Go James Madison!!! Serves you right Boise St!!! Come on Tennessee, keep giving it to the Pac-10

Finished Spriging my backyard with wonderful beach grass, aka St. Augustine sod, which can only be sodded or spriged since seeds are not sold. My back hurts!
Who provided the sod? These cool people about a mile down Savannah Hwy. Lets see, I've bought sand, slag, mulch, sod, and more from them because they are 75 percent of our beloved warehouse stores and they actually know what they are selling.

"Great Faith IS Great Surrender." - Andy Stanley from Faith, Hope, and Luck - Session 5
If you think about that for more than a minute then it really makes you feel how small your are. And let me clarify, there is nothing wrong with feeling small when you look at things from a Christian perspective. Don't let the Oprah, self-help, make me feel good crowd lead you otherwise. Oh, and I love Aunt Bea's on E. Montague Ave.
